Description
Sengsen-ton is the traditional winter outer garment of the Kazakh people. It was made from thick, curly sheep’s wool, which made it warm and durable during severe frosts. The outer side of the coat was covered with reddish-orange leather, while the inside was left with the wool, retaining heat. This clothing was mostly worn by wealthy people and warriors, and sometimes presented as a gift. The Sengsen-ton served not only as a practical garment but also carried decorative and social significance.
