Description

This artifact is a 10 tenge banknote from the first series of the national currency of the Republic of Kazakhstan, issued in 1993 following the country’s independence. The obverse features a portrait of Chokan Valikhanov (1835-1865), a prominent Kazakh scholar, historian, ethnographer, and educator. The dominant color is green. The reverse depicts Ok-Zhetpes Mountain in the Burabay (Borovoe) region, one of Kazakhstan’s most recognizable natural landmarks. The banknote bears the serial number AM 2757637. It is an important numismatic artifact representing the establishment of Kazakhstan’s independent monetary system and the artistic design of the country’s first national banknotes.
