Description

This Alasha is a traditional Kazakh flat-woven rug handcrafted by Madzhen Tymgariyeva on a manual weaving loom. It is woven from yellow, black, and red wool yarn, forming alternating striped patterns decorated with traditional geometric ornaments. Alasha rugs were commonly used as floor coverings, wall decorations, and insulating textiles inside Kazakh yurts and homes. They are among the oldest forms of Kazakh decorative and applied arts, reflecting centuries-old weaving traditions, artistic craftsmanship, and the cultural heritage of the Kazakh people. The artifact is an excellent example of traditional textile production and folk craftsmanship.
