Jug

Description

The jug is made of light gray clay and is wheel-made. The neck is cylindrical in shape, transitioning into a swollen, spherical body. The base is flat and has three small applied pads that function as feet. The surface of the vessel is carefully smoothed and burnished. The shoulder is covered with a dark engobe applied in a radial band 4.0 cm wide. Stamped geometric ornamentation (diamonds, polygons, X-shaped lines) is applied along the neck and the convex part of the body. On one side of the midsection of the body, traces of a handle attachment are preserved; the handle was oval in cross-section.
