Description

“Forty Years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945” is made of brass and has the shape of a perfect circle with a diameter of 32 mm.All inscriptions and images on the medal are in relief. The edges of the medal are bordered with a raised rim. The medal is attached by a ring and suspension loop to a pentagonal mount covered with a silk moiré ribbon, 24 mm wide, featuring three narrow black stripes alternating with four narrow orange stripes and one red stripe, 10 mm wide. The edges of the ribbon are bordered with narrow green stripes. Thus, the left half of the ribbon repeats in miniature the design of the Order of Glory ribbon. On the obverse, against the background of a five-pointed star, laurel branches, and the festive fireworks in honor of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War, are depicted the sculptural group of a soldier, a worker, a collective farm woman, and the Spasskaya Tower of the Moscow Kremlin. At the top are the dates “1945” and “1985.” On the reverse, along the upper circumference, is the inscription “TO A WAR PARTICIPANT” or “TO A LABOR FRONT PARTICIPANT.” In the center is the inscription: “40 Years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945,” and at the bottom, a relief image of a sickle and hammer above a ribbon.
