Medal with certificate

Description

Commemorative medal “50 Years of the Armed Forces of the USSR”. The award belonged to I.E. Smolensky. Made of golden-colored brass, it has a round shape with a diameter of 37 mm. The obverse features a red enamel five-pointed star, at the center of which are relief images of two soldiers of the Soviet Army along with the years “1918” and “1968”. The star is surrounded by a laurel-oak wreath. The reverse displays a star with a hammer and sickle, as well as the inscription “FIFTY YEARS OF THE ARMED FORCES OF THE USSR”. All elements are rendered in relief and bordered by a rim. The medal is attached to a sky-blue silk moiré ribbon.
