Description

Southern Kazakhstan. Baskur is a patterned woven braid used for decorating a yurt as well as for externally tightening the joints with the kerege. It consists of twisted, intertwined woolen threads. The composition of the ornament is executed in the technique of termé. It includes alternating stripes with patterns - “zhüztiru” in black and red colors; diamonds with inscribed patterns “törtkülaq.” The edges of the baskur are bordered with a strip featuring “ireksu” patterns in red and white colors.
