Bulldozer Operator K. Akhunbekov

Description

Author: Nurmukhammedov, Nagimbek. 1924-1986
A half-length portrait of a worker depicts him frontally against a section of a construction vehicle, wearing a cap and a work jacket, his gaze turned toward the viewer: the figure occupies nearly the entire plane of the canvas, its silhouette clearly defined against the light background. The painterly style is free and impasto: forms are modeled with broad brushstrokes, the face is rendered with greater density, while the clothing and background are treated in a generalized manner. The palette relies on the cool blue-grey tones of the overalls and background, animated by the warm tone of the face and hands.
