A landscape-genre composition depicting a scene of steppe hunting: on the right, a horseman gallops with a kurық (a pole with a loop) in hand; at the centre, a dog runs at full speed; on the left, a hunting bird soars overhead. The action unfolds in the foreground on a blooming meadow of white and yellow wildflowers; the background is rendered in generalized form - a line of low hills against a body of water. The colour scheme is built in a warm golden-yellow range, with blue accents introduced to convey a sense of the open steppe. The composition conveys the traditional Kazakh motif of hunting with birds of prey (sayat), rendered in the dynamic structure characteristic of genre painting. Bottom right.
