The Courtyard

Description

Author: Orymkhanov, Dzhumakhan. 1948
A genre scene set in a small courtyard: among house walls with window openings stands a low tree with a lush green canopy. To the left is the figure of a child in light-colored clothing. The high walls, vertical openings, and elongated tree trunk emphasize the upward thrust of the composition, creating a sense of deep spatial perspective. Executed in a loose painterly manner, the canvas is dominated by warm burgundy, brown, and ochre tones that foster an atmosphere of comfort, warmth, and gentle nostalgia.
