A genre composition depicting a mare’s milk (kumys) farm along the riverbank. In the center, set among yurts in the foreground, stand three young women in white robes beside milk cans, while nearby a woman in a kimeshek kneels by a campfire. To the left, behind the yurts, trees and a group of horses are visible, leading the eye toward the opposite bank with its strip of lush vegetation in the distance. A low horizon line opens up an expansive sky filled with ochre clouds. The light color scheme harmonizes the brownish-green and ochre tones of the steppe with the cool lilac-purple shades of the water and clouded sky. The light, fluid brushwork and subtle tonal transitions yield a dynamic, lively painted surface.
