Portrait of the Artist Kalmykov S.I.

Description

Author: Leontiyev, Leonid. 1913-1983
A bust-length portrait of a man in an interior, rendered in a realistic style defined by a solid, generalized modeling of form. The subject is depicted seated in three-quarter view, wearing a gray suit with a medal on his chest while his right hand rests on an album. His gaze, directed to the left, imbues the portrait with concentration and inner presence. The restrained color palette-built on a harmony of grayish-green and ochre-brown tones punctuated by the warm accents of the face and the red order ribbon-together with a clear, balanced composition, endows the image with serene dignity.
