Shapan—a traditional outer garment crafted for comfort and warmth during the transitional seasons of autumn and spring. Made from thick outer fabric, the garment is lightly padded with sheep’s wool and lined with soft material, providing both insulation and ease of wear. Its trapezoidal cut, with a flared hemline, offers freedom of movement while maintaining body heat. Despite signs of age—such as a torn lining at the nape and minor tears along the hem—the shapan retains its functional and cultural value as a reflection of practical craftsmanship and traditional Kazakh attire.
