Iron

Description

An everyday object for smoothing out wrinkles in clothing. The forged hollow sole is made of cast iron. It is used by heating and igniting coals inside the iron. The sturdy handle, mounted on a metal lid on the base of the hinged opening, is made of wood.
Dating: early 20th century.
