Coin of the Turgesh Khaganate

Description

The edge of the coin has a convex rim. There is also a rim around the central hole. The obverse is a circular Sogdian legend done in italic, counterclockwise. The legend consists of 4 words ‘Вўю twrkys йўййцн pny’ and ‘Господин Тюргешский кааган’. The reverse side is a tughra of the Turgish, described in the field of the coin between a thick lined rim and a square hole, the square hole is outlined in a rhombus as part of the tughra.
