Description
Shanyrak - the upper dome-shaped part of the yurt, an architectural element into which the ends of the roof poles (uyks) are inserted and converge. This element is made of bent birch, with the rim fully preserved. The edge and the central part of the shanyrak are decorated with simple geometric ornaments. The shanyrak served not only a practical purpose but also represented the spiritual and cultural identity of the Kazakh people.
