Description
A charcoal iron from the early 20th century. Hot charcoal was placed inside the hollow cast-iron body to provide heat for ironing. Round openings on the sides allowed airflow to keep the charcoal smoldering. The iron is equipped with a hinged lid featuring a latch lock at the front and a wooden handle designed to protect the user’s hands from burns. The exhibit reflects the household technology and domestic life of the early 20th century and holds historical and everyday-life value
