Description
Qapsyrma is one of the traditional forms of women’s jewellery in Kazakh culture. It was used to join and fasten the front panels of outer garments such as kamzol, kazhekей, and keudeshe. The front surface of the qapsyrma is decorated with ornamental motifs and worked using the sirkелеu technique (application of small granulated elements). A fastening hook for attaching it to the garment is located on the lower part. The qapsyrma was made using techniques of silverworking, repoussé, engraving, and decorative finishing.
