A ceremonial portrait: at the centre of the composition stands a frontal female figure in a white sari with a golden border, in the recognizable image of Indira Gandhi. Her pose is calm, hands folded in front. The figure rises above a dense, many-faced crowd filling the middle ground - numerous women in light veils, their faces rendered in a generalized, decoratively stylized manner. In the far background are architectural silhouettes with domes and spires. The foreground is occupied by a lush, multicolored mass of flowers. The composition is built as a memorial-triumphal glorification of the central heroine. Lower right - the signature.
