Talas District Historical and Local Lore Museum

The Talas District History and Local Lore Museum was initially located in the village of Akkol. However, in 1997, following the relocation of the district center to the city of Karatai, the museum building was also moved. In Karatai, the museum changed its location several times: it was first placed on the second floor of the House of Culture, and later moved to the building of the "Gornyak" cinema. In 1998, the museum was reorganized into a municipal state-owned enterprise and gained legal entity status.

Currently, the museum holds 6,010 exhibits, 3,800 of which are part of the main collection. The exhibition consists of five main sections:

1. Archaeology - includes archaeological finds from the district, ranging from the Stone Age to the Middle Ages;

2. Ethnography - presents materials about the lifestyle, crafts, and traditions of the Kazakh people;

3. Paleontology - showcases fossilized remains of ancient animals and plants;

4. History of the Talas District - tells the history and culture of the peoples who inhabited the district;

5. Independent Kazakhstan - reflects the stages of development of modern Kazakhstan and its achievements on the path to independence.

Modern technologies, video content, models, and photographs are used in the exhibitions, allowing visitors to gain a deeper understanding of the history of the district.

The Talas District History and Local Lore Museum plays an important role in preserving the rich historical and cultural heritage of the district and ensuring the continuity of generations.
