“Military Glory” Museum

The Museum of Military Glory, a structural subdivision of the G. Potanin Pavlodar Regional Museum of History and Local Lore under the Department of Culture, Archives and Documentation of the Pavlodar Region, is a significant cultural and educational institution that plays an important role in studying and promoting the military history of Kazakhstan.

The museum was established in 2011 as a subdivision of the history and local lore museum. Its main goal is to pass on to the younger generation the legacy of heroism displayed by fellow countrymen who participated in the Great Patriotic War and other military conflicts, to preserve historical memory, and to foster patriotic consciousness. The creation of the museum aligns with the state policy of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the preservation and popularization of historical and cultural heritage.

The museum features a single exhibition hall dedicated primarily to the events of the Great Patriotic War. The exhibition covers one of the most tragic periods of the 20th century - 1941-1945 - and highlights both the heroism of soldiers on the frontlines and the selfless labor of those on the home front, as well as the significant contribution of Pavlodar residents to the victory.

Visitors can view military weapons, personal belongings of soldiers, their letters, photographs, awards - orders and medals - along with archival and documentary materials. The content of the exhibition is historically accurate and aims to provide a comprehensive view of the contributions made by the people of Pavlodar Region to the Great Victory. The materials are presented in a didactic manner and help cultivate historical awareness and patriotic feelings among youth.

The museum regularly hosts themed exhibitions, commemorative evenings, rallies, conferences, lectures, and educational events. Among the most popular projects are: “Ә. Baymoldin - Under the Banner of Victory,” “Frontline Newspapers - Witnesses of the Times,” “A Brave Soldier of His Country,” and “Heroic Deeds of Women on the Front.” Of particular importance is the annually organized research and exploration program “Along the Roads of the Front.” This program includes research on the fates of war veterans and fallen soldiers, the collection of documentary and material evidence, and efforts to memorialize their names.

The Museum of Military Glory also serves as an informational and methodological center for school and university students engaged in research projects. Museum staff regularly conduct educational classes titled “The World of the Museum” for schoolchildren and provide academic consultations on topics related to war history. These classes are effectively used as a supplementary resource in history lessons at general education schools.

The Museum of Military Glory of the G. Potanin Pavlodar Regional Museum of History and Local Lore is an institution that plays a special role in promoting Kazakhstan’s military history, preserving the memory of the heroes of the Great Victory, and fostering patriotism among the younger generation. Its work contributes to strengthening national identity, preserving spiritual and historical continuity, and passing on cultural heritage to future generations.
