Museum “Ertis”

The "Ertis" Museum is a modern multimedia museum institution, established on December 21, 2019, as a structural subdivision of the G. N. Potanin Pavlodar Regional Museum of History and Local Lore - a state-owned enterprise under the Department of Culture, Language Development and Archival Affairs of Pavlodar Region. The opening of the museum was carried out within the framework of the cultural policy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, aimed at preserving, studying, and promoting the country's historical and cultural heritage.

The total area of the museum is 2,428 square meters, allowing it to accommodate up to 600 visitors at a time. A key feature of the institution is its use of cutting-edge multimedia technologies in presenting its exhibitions. Digital equipment and interactive screens provide a visually rich and in-depth perception of the main exhibits, as well as access to supplementary materials - including statistical data, photographic collections, and graphic illustrations that go beyond the core displays. This enhances the museum’s educational, aesthetic, and scholarly functions.

The museum’s exhibition is structured into 10 thematic halls, each reflecting different stages of natural and historical-cultural development of the Pavlodar region. These include:

1. Geology Hall - features materials on the geological history of the Earth, various types of rocks and minerals, and local natural resources;

2. Anthropology Hall - presents information on the origin and evolutionary development of humankind, and anthropological changes over time;

3. "Qaz Qonaq" Hall - dedicated to fossilized animals of the Eocene epoch, including the unique paleofauna specimen Tselaphysis, as well as other paleontological discoveries;

4. Neogene Period Hall - highlights the flora and fauna of the Neogene era and their adaptation to climatic changes and biodiversity shifts;

5. Ancient Flora and Fauna Hall - showcases prehistoric plant and animal remains and their natural habitats;

6. Great Figures of the Great Steppe Hall - focuses on prominent figures in Kazakh history and culture, such as Al-Farabi, Kanysh Satpayev, Ybyray Altynsarin, and others;

7. Ancient Archaeology Hall - displays archaeological artifacts from the Neolithic, Eneolithic, Bronze, and Iron Ages found in the Irtysh region;

8. Medieval History Hall - covers the history of medieval towns, trade routes, the influence of Islamic culture, and ethno-political processes;

9. Nature and Water Resources Hall - presents the ecosystem of the Pavlodar region, including its water bodies, rivers, lakes, and biodiversity;

10. Physical Geography Hall - provides comprehensive information about the regional topography, climate zones, and natural landscapes.

In addition to its permanent exhibition, the museum houses spaces for temporary exhibitions, interactive educational areas, and learning programs for children and adolescents. One of the museum’s primary objectives is the systematic study of the natural, historical, and cultural heritage of the Pavlodar region, its integration into academic discourse, and its presentation to the public through modern technological means.
