The Bauyrzhan Momyshuly Memorial Museum
The museum is an important cultural and historical institution dedicated to the life and heroism of the Hero of the Soviet Union, People’s Hero of Kazakhstan, writer, and military strategist Bauyrzhan Momyshuly.
The construction of the museum began in 1990, and the grand opening took place on May 5, 1995. The museum building is made of brick, with a total area of 349.8 square meters, of which 259.4 square meters is dedicated to the exhibition space. The museum's collection contains 2,074 items, of which about 1,200 exhibits are displayed in the exhibition halls for public viewing.
The main goal of the museum is to convey to future generations the historical figure of Bauyrzhan Momyshuly, his military exploits, and literary legacy, to foster patriotism and national spirit, as well as to preserve cultural and historical memory through the study and popularization of his life’s journey.
The exhibition complex covers all stages of Bauyrzhan Momyshuly's life. Among the exhibits are photo collages with battlefield photographs, the clothes he wore during both wartime and peacetime, personal and household items, his dombra, bed linens, furniture from his study, and his books. These relics fully reveal the hero’s personality, his spiritual world, and historical role.
One of the museum's halls is dedicated to the Battle of Moscow, specifically the heroism of the 28 Panfilov men. This hall provides a detailed account of the history of the legendary 316th Rifle Division. Another exhibition hall is devoted to Bauyrzhan Momyshuly's post-war life and his creative activity as a writer. Here, visitors can see his writing desk, a German "Underwood" typewriter, a figurine of a falcon, a chair, a desk lamp, a carpet, and other items related to his daily life.
In 2011, Bauyrzhan Momyshuly’s family, including his daughter-in-law Zeynep Akhmetova, enriched the museum’s collection with new exhibits. Among them are albums decorated with Kazakh ornaments that Bauyrzhan Momyshuly made for his grandchildren, a collection of mouthpieces, a statue of Jose Marti brought from Cuba, and other valuable items.
