Eltai Village Museum
The Yeltai Rural Museum of History and Local Lore is a cultural and educational institution located in the village of Yeltai, Makhambet District, Atyrau Region. The museum was established to collect, preserve, study, and pass on the historical and cultural heritage of the village to future generations and operates in the field of historical and local history research. The museum officially began its operations in 2010.
The main objective of the institution is to provide a comprehensive representation of the historical development of the village of Yeltai, its cultural and ethnographic characteristics, as well as the everyday life of the local population from a scientific and educational perspective.
The museum's exhibitions cover various historical stages of the village, with special attention given to local traditions, socio-economic life, and cultural heritage. The museum consists of several main thematic sections:
1. History of the Village - This section presents materials from the founding of Yeltai to the present day. It includes information about individuals who contributed to the village’s development, as well as a chronological overview of significant events.
2. Ethnographic Section - Showcases the traditional life of the Kazakh people, examples of national clothing, folk crafts, and jewelry. This section aims to preserve and promote ethnocultural heritage.
3. Agriculture and Labor Culture - Features materials related to the traditional economic activities of Yeltai's residents, including tools, production processes, and labor practices.
4. The Great Patriotic War and Labor Veterans - Highlights the stories of local residents who participated in the war, their heroism, and the contributions of labor veterans. Exhibits include awards, documents, and personal belongings.
5. Independent Kazakhstan and Modern Village Development - Reflects the achievements of Yeltai in the social, economic, and cultural spheres since the Republic of Kazakhstan gained independence, as well as the dynamics of its development.
The museum's scientific collection contains more than 700 exhibits. Among them are archaeological artifacts, ethnographic items (traditional clothing, household utensils), historical documents and photographs, personal archives, and award-related belongings of local residents.
The Yeltai Rural Museum of History and Local Lore is not only a cultural and historical center preserving the past of the village but also a scientific and educational institution that plays an important role in shaping the historical consciousness of the younger generation. Its exhibitions and scientific collection serve as a valuable resource for studying local history and culture.
