Museum in the village of Urjar
The museum branch in the village of Urzhar, Urzhar district, was created in 2012 on the initiative of the district akim Bauyrzhan Zhanakov. The museum collection is made up of museum items that reveal the customs and traditions of the peoples who lived in the region. The museum consists of the following sections: "Archaeology", "The Nature of Urzhar - Barkytbel", "History of the Urzhar Region", "Secrets of the Ages", "The Idea of Alash - the Basis of Independence", "Urdzhar People During the Great Patriotic War", "Ethnography". The museum collection contains 4,616 storage units. In 2013, the museum became part of the regional history and local history museum of the city of Semey and began to function as its branch. In 2015, a research expedition was organized on the rock paintings of Tarbagatai Peak - Akberli. In 2016, joint archaeological excavations were conducted with KazNU scientists on the Bukpan hill near the village of Taskesken in the Urjar district, where several beads and four Saka arrows were found. In the same year, a permanent exhibition on the theme of "Alash and the idea of independence" was created at the branch. In 2017, a permanent exhibition was created for the 150th anniversary of the birth of the poet and musician A. Naymanbayuly. Also in 2017, an exhibition was created dedicated to Baltabek Khadzhi Baysultanuly, a local figure of Alash and the leader of the national liberation uprising. In honor of the Chernobyl veterans of the district, an exhibition "Veterans of Chernobyl" was organized. In 2019, a research expedition was organized to the marked stones on the peak of Akperili Tarbagatai. In 2022, joint archaeological excavations were carried out with scientists from KazNU at the historical site of "Naimankala" near the village of Eltai in the Urzhar district. In 2023, the section "Years of the Great Patriotic War" was replenished with the exposition "Fearless Partisan" dedicated to the famous partisan and public figure Meshitbai Khasenov.
A worthy place is given to the history of the Great Patriotic War, the combat path of the 314th rifle division.
The museum has accumulated a wealth of material on the history of the development of virgin lands, the development of industry and agriculture. One of the most important halls of the museum is the hall "History of the North Kazakhstan region over the years of independence. Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan". It reflects materials telling about the achievements of the North Kazakhstan region in the economy and social sphere. On December 1, 2012, the Hall of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan was opened. The exposition materials tell about the family of N.A. Nazarbayev, his school and student years, his career and his socio-political activities.
