Pavlodar Regional Art Museum named after nagymbek Nurmukhammedov
Pavlodar Regional Art Museum is an art museum in Pavlodar, created in 1964 on the basis of the art department of the Pavlodar Regional Museum of History and Local Lore named after G. N. Potanin. It is one of the largest collections of fine art in Kazakhstan.
It was founded in 1964 as a regional museum of Soviet fine art, to which exhibits from the art department of the regional museum of history and local lore were transferred. The basis of the new museum's collection was a collection of 46 works transferred from the Kazakh State Art Gallery named after T. G. Shevchenko and part of an exhibition of Leningrad artists, which was exhibited in 1963 in the city's regional museum of history and local lore. The initiative of Pavlodar artists and the director of the regional museum of history and local lore Ivan Vasilyevich Lagutin (1913-2014) played a major role in the organization of the museum. During the period of acquisition of the funds, the museum was given the premises of the former city school No. 21. The art museum was given an outbuilding - a one-story frame-type barrack in a dilapidated state. In April 1965, the museum was allocated part of the premises on the first floor of the house No. 11 on 1 Maya Street.
In 1965, the collection of the museum under construction continued to expand. The Tselinograd city department of culture transferred 103 works by Moscow artists to it, which were part of an exhibition organized by the Moscow branch of the Union of Artists of the RSFSR to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the development of virgin lands. Pavlodar artists donated their works to the museum; exhibits were donated by the USSR Ministry of Culture and the State Tretyakov Gallery - including etchings by Valentin Serov from the early 20th century, a watercolor by Nikolai Karazin (1860).
On December 18, 1965, the museum was opened to visitors. At that time, its collection included 369 exhibits. Gradually, the museum formed a unique art collection - the first in the regional center of the republic[4]. The first employees of the museum, its director Vladimir Alekseevich Freiman, and employees Ksenia Iosifovna Velichko and Lyudmila Afanasyevna Kuznetsova, did a lot of work on its formation, creation of a material base, and active exhibition activities. Lyubov Georgievna Plakhotnaya, who headed the Kazakh State Art Gallery named after T. G. Shevchenko in those years, provided invaluable assistance.
Until 1992, it was called the Pavlodar Regional Museum of Soviet Fine Art. In 1979, under director K. I. Velichko, the museum was given part of the premises on the first floor of a residential building on Kuibyshev Street (now Toraigyrov Street), where it is located today. In the 1980s and 1990s, a scientific concept for collecting the collection was developed, and research and exhibition work were actively carried out. During these years, the museum employed employees who largely determined the direction of its development - Olga Petrovna Matvienko, Irina Alekseyevna Nikiforova, Evgeniya Stanislavovna Chernykh, Elena Viktorovna Dubovaya. After the collapse of the USSR, the concept for forming the museum fund changed, and the priority areas for replenishing the collection were the art of Kazakhstan and, above all, the history of the development of the artistic life of Pavlodar. Currently, the museum collection consists of 6,155 items covering the period from the 1920s to the 1980s. Among the exhibits reflecting the history of the development of art in Kazakhstan are: landscapes created in the early 20th century by the Kazakhstani artist Nikolai Khludov and his students A. Bortnikov and N. Solovyov; the works of the founder of Kazakh fine art Abylkhan Kasteyev; works of contemporary painters and graphic artists A. Galimbayeva, G. Ismailova, L. Leontyev, S. Mambeyev, K. Telzhanov, A. Cherkassky, J. Chardenov, V. Eifert.
