Multimedia Traditional Music Center

The museum, established with the aim of preserving the national cultural heritage and promoting it through modern technologies, was opened on September 18, 2016, in honor of the 25th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the 1000th anniversary of the city of Almaty. The main objective of the Center is to widely present the traditional musical art of the Kazakh people using advanced 3D multimedia technologies, to transmit this heritage to future generations, and to create an informative environment for foreign visitors interested in Kazakh culture.

The total area of the museum is 848.5 square meters.

The primary goal of the institution is the collection, digitization, scientific systematization, and multimedia presentation of traditional Kazakh music (including epic, instrumental, and vocal works, zhyrau art, terme, tolgau, etc.) to the modern generation. In addition, the Center engages in the study of the genealogy of musical heritage, analysis of its historical and ethnographic features, and the classification of samples from oral traditions.

The museum consists of two main exhibition halls:

The first hall is dedicated to the key branches of traditional Kazakh musical art - vocal, zhyrau, and instrumental schools. Visitors can explore the historical and cultural significance of Kazakh folk musical instruments in this space.

The second multimedia hall offers a visual journey through the history of the Kazakh people using modern technologies. In this hall, centuries-old art and culture are presented in an interactive format with the use of digital materials, sound accompaniment, and visual effects.

The Museum and Cultural Center not only preserves the national musical heritage but also presents it in a contemporary format, fulfilling both educational and scientific functions. The exhibitions are accompanied by QR audio guides available in five languages - Kazakh, Russian, English, Turkish, and Chinese - making the museum accessible and appealing to a multilingual audience.
