Tyulkubas District Historical and Local Lore Museum named after T. Ryskulov
The Turar Ryskulov Regional Museum of History and Local Lore in Tulkubas was established in 1983 and serves as an important cultural center dedicated to preserving and studying the historical and cultural heritage of the region. The museum is located in the Tulkubas district of the Turkistan Region and occupies a two-story building with a total area of 596 square meters. The museum's exhibition is organized into four main halls:
1. “Personality and Time: The Life Path of Turar Ryskulov” - This section provides a comprehensive overview of the life and work of Turar Ryskulov, a prominent Kazakh statesman and public figure. The exhibition features documents, photographs, and personal belongings related to his childhood, education, work in the government of the Turkestan Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, as well as his contributions to addressing national issues in Kazakhstan and Central Asia.
2. “Ancient History and Ethnography of the Region” - This hall presents archaeological artifacts, clay vessels, tools, and jewelry that reflect the history of the Tulkubas region from the Stone Age to the era of the Kazakh Khanate. It also showcases the traditional lifestyle of the Kazakh people, including models of yurts and national costumes. Additionally, materials are presented on the resettlement of Russian and Ukrainian peoples to Kazakhstan and their interaction with the local population.
3. “History of the District” - This section covers the historical development of the Tulkubas district from its founding to the present day. It includes materials on socio-economic transformations and a special section dedicated to the victims of the political repressions of 1937-1938. The exhibition also highlights the lives and contributions of local participants in World War II, labor veterans, and notable poets and scholars of the region.
4. “Nature” - This hall provides information on the geographical features of the region, as well as its flora and fauna. Special attention is given to the Aksu-Zhabagly State Nature Reserve and rare species of plants and animals listed in the Red Book.
The Turar Ryskulov Regional Museum of History and Local Lore in Tulkubas plays a significant role in passing on the region’s historical, cultural, and natural heritage to future generations. Its exhibitions help residents and visitors gain a deeper understanding of the past and present of the region, contributing to the development of historical awareness. In addition, the museum carries out systematic research and cultural-educational activities.
