Belt tip (fragment) with figures of mountain rams – argalis.
VIII-VII centuries B.C. Settlement of Zhalauyly, Rayymbek District, Almaty Region. Accidental find.
Gold. Casting, soldering, granulation, inlay. Dimensions: length – 6.4 cm, width – 2.6 cm, height – 1.1 cm. Weight – 22.10 grams. Purity – 900.
The belt tip has an elongated rectangular shape, with a rounded end, slightly curved. The front surface is convex, decorated with miniature figures of mountain rams – argalis, soldered in 2 rows: 3 in the upper first row, 4 in the second. The argalis have their legs tucked under and their bodies feature cut-outs – comma-shaped nests for inserting gemstones. The space between the figures is filled with dense granulation. The edges of the tip are bent to the reverse side.
