The ceramic vessel (flask)

Kyzylorda Regional Museum of Local Lore

The ceramic vessel (flask) belongs to the Jetyasar culture, which existed in the lower reaches of the Syr Darya from the late 1st millennium BCE to the 1st millennium CE. The vessel is egg-shaped and was hand-built using a molding technique. A geometric spiral ornament decorates the upper part, and the mouth is elongated and set off to the side. The vessel is painted red. According to archaeologists, the bottom was made flat to allow it to be loaded on both sides of a camel.
