The ossuary is oval in shape, elongated horizontally. The lid is dome-shaped and fitted with a convenient handle. The handle features an anthropomorphic depiction of an animal. The ossuary was handmade from natural clay and fired in a kiln. Its surface is not completely smooth, clearly indicating handcrafted production.
The front surface and edges are decorated with an ornament created through molding, with diagonal lines placed in the center of the design. Such patterns may have held aesthetic as well as ritual and symbolic significance during the period.
Bone remains are preserved inside the ossuary. It was discovered during archaeological excavations in the 1950s at the Taraz settlement.
