A saint in the forest

Description

In the center of the foreground, a saint is kneeling in prayerful ecstasy or deep repentance. In his hands, he holds a crucifix, pressing it to his chest and resting it upon an open book. To his right, a skull-a traditional symbol of memento mori (remember death)-lies on a rock.
