Patchwork quilt

Description

A striking example of national applied art is a patchwork quilt (kurak korpe) sewn from velvet fabric. The patchwork quilt is used in the home as a floor mat for seating and as a decorative room element. In the central part of the quilt, five diamond-shaped patterns are sequentially arranged on a dark blue background. Inside each diamond are red flower-like figures complemented by small white elements. The central composition is bordered with a dark red trim, and along its outer side, a traditional patchwork chain in the “botagoz” (camel’s eye) style, consisting of red and black triangles, repeats itself. The outermost edge of the quilt is framed with a rich dark green velvet fabric, giving the item elegance and magnificence.
