Old Semipalatinsk

Description

Nikolai Ivanovich Yakovlev (1927-1985) was a prominent Kazakhstani painter who worked in the historical-genre and realistic landscape directions.
The presented artwork “Old Semipalatinsk” is one of the author’s vivid works in this genre. The painting masterfully depicts the open, sunlit space of the old town, the backdrop of mosque minarets and urban structures, as well as townspeople in traditional attire and horse riders. The bright palette with soft blue, ochre, and whitish tones emphasizes the authenticity and poetry of the past way of life.
