Trees. Study

Description

Author: Frolova, Valentina. 1915-1990
A study featuring a cluster of bare-branched trees set against a mountain backdrop. The dark verticals of the trunks traverse nearly the entire compositional plane, contrasting with the cool blue-purple contours of the mountain range. At the base of the trees, light green and yellowish strokes suggest young brushwood. The palette is predominantly cool, infused with ochre-green tones in the foliage and sky. Swift, fluid brushwork and a light, spontaneous technique emphasize the study’s immediate character, capturing the freshness of a spring landscape.
