A genre composition set on a beach depicts two full-length figures against a backdrop of the sea and a rocky coast: on the left is a young man in a light shirt and dark trousers, turned in a three-quarter view to the right; on the right is a young woman in a striped dress with a voluminous hairstyle, shown in profile with her head bowed and a bag in her hands. Small figures of vacationers are visible on the sand in the distance. The restrained postures and detached gazes convey a sense of understated tension to the scene. Executed in a realistic manner, the work features generalized modeling of forms. The palette is built on subdued grayish-ochre tones of the sand and sea, punctuated by the pink and blue stripes of the dress acting as vivid accents.
