A multi-figure composition dedicated to the home front of Kazakhstan during 1941-1945 depicts women harvesting wheat with sickles and binding sheaves in the foreground, with a man holding a scythe standing on the left. In the second plan on the right are an ox-drawn cart, a man stacking sheaves, and a woman with a child seated near a hut. Stretching into the distance is a broad panorama of a harvested field filled with working figures and haystacks beneath a high sky with cumulus clouds. Distributed across the entire canvas plane, the figures are united by a shared rhythm of labor; the forms are generalized, executed in a restrained painterly manner. The palette is built on warm golden-ochre tones of the harvested field, set against the blue shades of the sky and the white accents of the clothing.
