The Commissioner’s Word. Oraz Zhandosov

Description

Author: Nurlybayev, Muratbek. 1937-2013
A historical-revolutionary composition dedicated to Oraz Zhandosov depicts at its center a young commissar in a leather jacket addressing the gathered crowd, backed by a Red Army soldier in a budenovka holding a red banner. Encompassing them in a tight group are men of various ages clad in chapans and malakhai hats, while the figures in the foreground are depicted from behind, drawing the viewer directly into the scene. The arrangement is concentric, with generalized forms and faces treated as representative types. The palette relies on muted brown-ochre tones, anchored by the dominant accent of the red banner cloth.
