Village

Description

Author: Nurzhanov, Kadyrali. 1952
A rural landscape, in the depth of which a row of buildings with dark windows and the silhouettes of trees align along a road, backed by a range of rolling hills. In the left foreground stands the figure of a youth with a stick resting across his shoulder, while to the right appears the dark silhouette of a cow. Executed in a generalized manner with broad, sweeping brushstrokes, the work dissolves fine details into the gathering dusk. The palette rests on deep brownish-red and near-black tones, punctuated by warm, ochre reflections shimmering on the walls of the structures.
