A symbolic composition set against a steppe landscape: portrayed on the right is a young woman in a long dark dress playing the flute, complemented on the left by a goblet-shaped vase standing upon a white pedestal. Within the background depth, an abstract geometric structure rises atop a hill, reflected in a circular pond. Juxtaposing a realistically rendered figure with abstract architectural forms imparts a metaphorical, contemplative quality to the scene.
