Zhailau Tosektas

Description

Author: Nurzhumayev, Oralbek. 1938-1996
A landscape with a motif of a summer nomadic encampment (zhailau) depicts a hilly terrain with gentle slopes. Positioned on the right are two yurts with female figures nearby, while horses graze along the hillsides; in the distance on the left, yurts and figures are visible along a road. Executed in long, impasto brushstrokes, the forms are generalized, with the relief resolved in large, fluid masses. The palette is sustained in closely related ochre-pink and lilac-gray tones, conveying the soft, diffused light and tranquility of the mountain valley.
