A landscape composition in a muted blue-grey palette. At the center is the dark outline of a small yurt, beside which stand a female figure and the silhouette of an ochre-red horse. In the background on the left, a female figure is conventionally rendered, while a dark blue expanse of water can be seen in the distance. Executed in broad painterly planes, the sky occupies most of the composition. The forms are treated in a generalized manner without detail; the palette is resolved in a unified twilight tonality that conveys the mood of solitude of a winter encampment.
