Excavator

Description

Author: Zhapak, Yersain. 1961
Vertically composed, this landscape captures a panoramic view of rolling hills from an elevated vantage point. At the crest of the hill, excavators are at work, while below, small structures in soft bluish and lilac hues are scattered across the slopes, nestled into dense foliage. The palette relies on a contrast between the warm tones of the terrain and vegetation and the cool blue accents of the architecture and distant sky. Rendered with rich impasto, the forms are simplified into broad, generalized planes without fine detail, executed in a loose, almost naive style.
