A double portrait of two women in headscarves against a landscape background. On the left is an older woman in a turquoise-green headscarf tied in peasant fashion, with a sun-tanned, weathered face. On the right is a young woman in a light-blue headscarf, with softer, fairer features. Both figures are shown at chest level, turned toward one another. The background is rendered in a generalized manner, with broad horizontal planes of yellow-green and grey-blue tones. Executed in a loose manner with broad, confident brushstrokes characteristic of a portrait study. Upper left - signature and date.
