Balhash. Boat Station

Description

Author: Dyachkin, Andrey. 1930
An urban landscape depicting a waterfront with numerous boats and small sailing vessels with tall masts, moored at the pier; among them are the figures of two people standing in the boats. The masts create a vertical rhythm crossing the composition from above. In the background is a panorama of urban buildings of varying heights, rendered in a generalized silhouette of grey-blue tones, with a light reflection in the water. The manner of execution is graphic, built on vigorous colored pastel hatching, with a dense combination of vertical and horizontal lines creating a decorative rhythm in the composition.
