A knee-length portrait of a young woman seated in an armchair beside a round table, shown in three-quarter view. Her dark hair is parted in the middle and arranged in two braids. She is dressed in a gown with a large floral pattern built on a combination of red, white, and dark motifs against a light ground. The background is light and whitened, treated in a generalized manner. The colour scheme rests on the soft, cool-light tones of the background, enlivened by warm red accents. The handling is textured: form is modelled through colour and brushstroke, the contours blurred, while the facial features are worked out more distinctly than the rest. Signed by the artist at lower right.
