Description
Author: Guliyev, Shamil. 1960
A decorative-ornamental composition of two zones. On the left are dense vertical rows of stylized wolf heads: the elongated muzzles and pointed ears are rendered conventionally, turning into grotesque animal-like masks reminiscent of totemic faces. The larger right-hand part of the field is occupied by a big diagonal lattice of rhombic interweaving, through which the same forms emerge. The composition is frontal and planar, filled with pattern on a carpet-like repeat (rapport) principle. The palette is muted, earthy and patinated. The manner is textured and relief-like, with an emphasis on decorative rhythm and the alternation of light and dark planes.entire canvas area is filled with stylized images of wolf heads. In the center is a light rectangle divided into diamonds.
