A genre composition depicting a girl in a red dress seated on the ground beside white kid goats. She holds a bottle, toward which one of the animals reaches. The composition is intimate, built on a diagonal movement from the figure of the child to the animals; the light background dissolves into an airy, greenish-blue haze. The handling is light: fluid brushwork, soft transitions between warm and cool tones, and a generalisation of form set against the touching directness of the subject.
