Medal “60 Years of Armed Forces of the USSR”

Description

The medal “Sixty Years of the Armed Forces of the USSR” by A.T. Popras. The medal has a round shape, with the edges framed by a border. All inscriptions and images on the medal are embossed. The medal is connected to a five-sided mount wrapped in a gray silk moire ribbon through a loop and ring. The edges of the ribbon are outlined with a red stripe, and a longitudinal stripe of golden color runs down the center of the ribbon. Obverse: against the backdrop of rockets soaring upwards and flying combat aircraft, there is an image of a soldier of the Soviet Army with a rifle. To the right of the soldier’s figure, on the horizon of the sea, a submarine is depicted, above which are the dates “1918” and “1978” arranged in two lines. Reverse: around the edge are the inscriptions “Sixty Years” and “Armed Forces of the USSR,” separated by stars. In the center, a five-pointed star with a hammer and sickle is superimposed on crossed rifles and a sabre. On the back of the mount, there is a pin-type clasp.
