Description

A paleontological artifact – an ammonite, an ancient marine organism. Millions of years ago, the Mangystau region was underwater, and during that time snails, ammonites, and belemnites freely inhabited the marine environment. After the water receded, ammonites dried and turned into stone. The upper and lower parts resemble the shape of a “ram’s horn.” The surface of the horn is bumpy and textured. The name “ammonite” comes from the Greek sun god Amon, whose horns had a similar spiral shape. This type of artifact is rare and is typically found in the core of large concretions. Natural stone.
